Dr. Tomika Ferguson
Assistant Dean for Student Affairs
Dr. Tomika Ferguson is an equity-centered scholar and educational leader whose scholarship centers on the intersection of race, gender, equity, and athletics. Her scholarship and community-engaged work have been included in the Journal of College Student Development, Journal of Research on Leadership Education, and Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Dr. Ferguson collaborates with educational, athletic, and health organizations and their leaders to strategize and implement equity-centered approaches in the workplace, curriculum, and policy. She is also the founder of the Black Athlete Sister Circle, a holistic development program for Black women college athletes. Dr. Ferguson received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and her master’s and doctoral degrees from Indiana University – Bloomington. She is currently the assistant dean for student affairs and inclusive and assistant professor of educational leadership at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Education.
