Nilay Patel

My name is Nilay Patel and I am a Facility Manager with Henrico Recreation and Parks. I have a bachelor’s degree in social work and psychology. Prior to joining Henrico Recreation and Parks I worked in the social work field as a manager for eight years. I supported individuals with anxiety disorders, individuals who were homeless and individuals with substance abuse struggles. I switched careers in 2016 and since then I have been focused on bringing my unique experiences as a social worker into my role within recreation. I tend to focus on relationships and trying to support my coworkers and family and friends from behind not in front. I enjoy leading and supporting others, but I also appreciate learning from those I meet. Lastly, I spend most of my time with my wife and two daughters. We enjoy traveling, sports, and great meals.
