Assistant Head of School for Human Resources and Operations for Providence Day School
Mr. Todd Swartz serves as Assistant Head of School for Human Resources and Operations at Providence Day School, a TK-12th grade college preparatory school in Charlotte, N.C. Todd has been with PDS since 2005.
As a member of the school’s Executive leadership team, Todd provides leadership and direction for strategic planning, vision and change management initiatives, project management, and policy and program development. He directs all human capital functions of the School in accordance with the policies and practices of the School, the ethical and social consciences of business and society and the laws, regulations and administrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory and advisory authorities and organizations. Todd has coordinating oversight of the following areas: Human Resources, Institutional Strategic Research and Planning, legal matters, and day-to-day school operations.
With a Juris Doctorate degree (cum laude) from Boston University School of Law and a bachelor’s (cum laude) in political science from Union College, Todd has more than 25 years of human resources and employment and labor relations law experience, including roles as counsel for the City of Boston Labor Relations Office, and Counsel and Director of Labor Relations for the City of Boston Inspectional Services Department. His human resources experience includes the human resources director for the Massachusetts College of Art, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and at Providence Day School.
Todd is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), a Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and a Certified Diversity and Inclusion Professional (CDP). In 2017, he was named The Employers’ Association “Human Resources Strategic Leader of the Year.” Each year the Employers Association selects one senior HR professional out of Mecklenburg County and the surrounding 16 counties in North and South Carolina based on that HR professional’s strategic HR contribution to his/her organization.
Todd provides consulting and training services to companies and organizations of various industries and sizes on Human Resources, Employment Law and Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. Todd also serves as an adjunct professor, teaching human resources certification for Central Piedmont Community College’s Corporate and Continuing Education Program.
Todd is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, the Charlotte Area Society for Human Resources Management and the Central Piedmont Community College Human Resources Management Advisory Committee.
