Marquita Whisonant
Associate Director, Frontline Support and CVI Integration - The Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI)
Marquita Whisonant is a paramedic, educator, and former firefighter with a strong background in emergency medical services, teaching, and curriculum development. She is passionate about breaking the silence around mental health in fire and EMS and guiding leadership practices that support both operational excellence and emotional well-being.
She has worked in both field and classroom settings—serving in fire and EMS departments and teaching in higher education and on a national level. Her work focuses on integrating trauma-informed approaches into organizational culture, creating space for professionals to lead with integrity, stay grounded in their purpose, and meet the demands of the job without losing themselves in the process.
